Q: My car isn’t in running condition. Can I still donate?

A: Yes. We are able to accept all vehicles that are not running. Please mention the condition of the vehicle at the time of scheduling your pick-up.
 

Q: What do I need to donate my vehicle?

Q: Is my donation tax deductible?

A: Yes. Bless the Kids Fundation, Inc is a nonprofit organization that has been classified by the IRS as a 501 (c) (3). Your donation is tax deductible to the full extent of the law. Individual tax situations vary, so please check with a tax professional to determine your legal status.

In accordance with the New Tax Law in effect as of Jan. 1st 2005, you may deduct the full price we receive for the sale of your vehicle. This greatly simplifies the process for you, the donor, because you no longer have to research and come up with an estimate of the fair market value of the vehicle. This also eliminates the risk of overstating the value of your deduction on your tax return. You’ll know exactly what amount you can deduct.

You will receive a receipt at the time we pick up your vehicle, and as a follow-up, we will send you a second receipt as soon as we sell it, letting you know the exact amount for which it sold. That amount is your tax deduction.

Q: How is the value of my car determined?

A: For low value vehicle donations you can claim the fair market value up to $500 without any additional paperwork, together with the receipt we will provide at the time of the pickup.

If your vehicle is worth more then $500, your deduction will be limited to the actual sale price. We will work to get top dollar for your car donation, however most vehicles are sold "wholesale" at auctions, dealerships etc. and are frequently sold for less then the Kelly Blue Book value.

Vehicles in good running order or vehicles that can be significantly improved before they are sold can generally claim your car's fair market value.

Q: How long will it take to pick up my car?

A: Depending on the location of your vehicle, it can take anywhere from 1 to 2 hours.

Q: What can I donate?

A: We accept most vehicles and vessels including, but not limited to: cars, vans, trucks, fleet vehicles, trailers, boats, motorcycles and RV’s.
